MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel addressed 'unfounded' trade rumors on Friday, asserting that the team has no plans to trade any players at this time. The recent social media buzz has been abuzz with speculation about potential trades involving key players like Jaylen Waddle, De'Von Achane, Jaelan Phillips, and Bradley Chubb, as the Dolphins' 1-5 season start has led some analysts to predict a potential trade deadline sell-off.
Despite the usual silence on rumors, McDaniel was resolute in his statement. He emphasized, 'All trade rumors about Miami Dolphins players are unfounded at the moment.' He expressed concern for the players' well-being, noting that such rumors can be disruptive, especially during this critical period of the season.
Waddle, a prominent figure in the Dolphins' offense, has been a standout performer since Tyreek Hill's season-ending injury in Week 4. Waddle, drafted sixth overall in 2021 and signed a substantial three-year extension in 2024, is in the final year of his rookie contract. He has proven his worth, amassing six catches for 205 yards and a touchdown in just two games without Hill.
When asked about the rumors on Thursday, Waddle remained focused and dismissive. He stated, 'I'm solely concentrated on the game, specifically the Browns match-up, and securing a victory. I don't typically engage with such rumors. If my agent or any relevant parties reach out, I'll be informed, but for now, my attention is on the task at hand.'
It's worth noting that Miami has not engaged in a significant trade deadline deal since 2022, when they acquired Chubb from the Denver Broncos in exchange for a first-round pick.
